The first-ever Cambridge ‘Punt-A-Thon’ for Children in Need

On the 2nd of November 2019, we are organising a unique 12 hour-long ‘Punt-A-Thon’ on a decorated Polka-Dot Pudsey Punt to raise as much money as possible for BBC Children In Need.

On this special day, the first tour will leave at around 8am for those brave early risers and customers will join tours every hour until 8pm on our Polka-Dot Pudsey Punt (which was kindly donated by Footprint Signs and Graphics).

What is BBC Children in Need?

Children in Need is a the BBC’s UK corporate charity, which aims to make a difference to disadvantaged children and young people. Thus, this charity supports projects across the UK that help change lives. As a result of providing the children a ‘happy childhood’, so they can safely and contentedly reach their potential and contribute to a brighter future for all.

How do they do it?

Children In Need provide grants to various projects across the UK that focus on disadvantaged children and young people. Trying to help as many as possible from the very top of the country to the very bottom – supporting both small and large organisations that help children strive for a better life by extending their life choices.

For instance, BBC Children in Need Appeal Night takes place every year in November which showcase the amazing efforts people go to, to support the charity. As it happens, it made us think; about what we could do to help? Consequently we had the idea of using our business to extend the amount that we could donate personally, so we have organised the first ever Cambridge ‘Punt-A-Thon’ on the River Cam.

Of course, before the Appeal Night, there is plenty of fun and wacky fund-raising events that go on all around the UK from schools to workplaces to independent businesses and also the public, all being involved in the mass effort to raise as much money as we can, as a nation, for this fantastic cause – such as organising a 12 hour-long ‘Punt-A-Thon’!

Why should you take part in our 12 hour ‘Punt-A-Thon’?

  • Firstly if you would like to be apart of something that can make a significant difference this year, then you should definitely take part in our ‘Punt-A-Thon’ to help us raise as much money as we can for Children In Need.
  • Then it will be a fun day for all, with everyone dressing up and joining in with the entertainment, whilst being guided down the most beautiful stretch of river in the UK.
  • Nevertheless donating is a ‘feel-good’ thing to do. All ticket sales will be going to Children In Need, so you can experience an amazing punt tour of Cambridge, knowing that the entire cost of your ticket will be going directly to the charity.

How do I go about buying a ‘Punt-A-Thon’ ticket?

Punt tours will depart every hour and tickets can be purchased on our Cambridge Punting website. You can also opt for a private chauffeured punt tour which can be purchased over the phone on 01223 782306 to get involved in our charity event or to find out more information.
