Easter Punting and Hunting

Our Easter Punt and Hunt is here! This Easter we are debuting our new and exclusive Easter Punt and Hunt to entertain your family throughout your visit to Cambridge this April. Take to river and iconic cobbled streets to follow the Easter Bunny, spot the Easter Eggs and crack the code to retrieve your special sweet prize.

As we all know during the school holidays trying to think of new things to do is difficult, let alone trying to find activities that are family-friendly. We, at the Traditional Punting Company, have found a solution with our new punt and hunt packages. This spring we have created our Easter Scavenger hunt to fill your day in Cambridge with fun and laughter for the entire family. We have covered everything you need to know about our new punting package this Easter in this article.

The first thing to note is that the Easter Punt and Hunt is split into 2 sections; On the River, and Around the City and can only be purchased as an add-on to our chauffeured punt tours.

Along the River:

When you head down to our punting location, you will be greeted by one of our cashiers and they will hand you your Easter Scavenger Hunt. You will begin your scavenger hunt on our guided punt tour which will take you one mile up the river and bring you one mile back. You will see the backs of 7 different colleges, 9 different bridges and some of the most iconic sights in Cambridge. Whilst you are glided along the River Cam your chauffeur will be regaling your family with everything there is to know about Cambridge and its University. And don’t worry, they will always include jokes and stories that will get your children involved during the 50 minutes experience. During this time, your child will be completing the Activity Section of the scavenger hunt, which will include dot-to-dots, an egg maze and an easter spot the difference to name but a few.

The ‘on the river’ section can also include questions about the colleges and things you might see during your tour, so make sure to pay attention! These fun activities will help keep your little ones entertained during the tour and will enhance their time on the river.

Around the City:

The ‘around the city’ section will take you all over Cambridge hunting for monuments, objects and easter items. This part of the hunt has been designed with parent prompts, so you can help create the story/narrative for your child with our rhythms that will link take you from one question to the next. Your child will follow the easter map, down passages, on the tail of the Easter Bunny, until you reach your final destination where a surprise is waiting for your little one.

This part of the hunt normally takes families around 1hr, however we urge you to take your time to visit some of the sights or museums along the way or even maybe stop for a drink or something to eat at some of Cambridges famous cafe’s/restaurants. Since our Easter scavenger hunt takes you through the city centre you will pass or walk near the likes of the Round Church, the University museum of Zoology, the Market Square, Corpus Clock and so much more. Once you have have found the answers to all of the questions you will be guided to Hardy’s Sweet Shop to collect your prize.

Final Prize:

To claim your prize you must complete the ‘on the river’ section of the scavenger hunt which will form a code that you’ll need to give to the sweet shop. The second part of the hunt, the ‘around the city’ section is a fun optional extra, but is not necessary to earn your prize.

Each answer to the ‘on the river’ questions/activities will form a letter once all questions are answers correctly the letters will spell out an Easter themed word. As mentioned this word acts as a code which you then need to take to Hardy’s Original Sweetshop so you can collect your sweet treat!

Home Cooking:

Speaking of sweet treats, the fun can also continue when you get home. At the back of your Spring Hunt and Punt Booklet, we have included one of our favourite Easter recipes, Chocolate Egg Nests, so your day in Cambridge doesn’t stop there. This recipe includes your normal kitchen cupboard ingredients and are a firm favourite in our household.
